William ("Bill") Staunton hails from Ulster and is known for his quick wit and easy manner, appreciated by all. He has an enviable criminal defence practice, developed over many years. He came to Central Chambers from other chambers in Manchester, attracted by our commitment to human rights and civil liberties.
Throughout his career at the Bar, Bill has concentrated on criminal matters. Although he once did a substantial amount of prosecution work, he now restricts himself very largely to defence cases in the Crown Court. He has had experience of all manner of crime ranging from murder, rape, violence and serious assaults to dishonesty, public order offences and serious road traffic charges. A man of principle, his successes and positive attitude to both lay and professional clients are recognised by his faithful band of instructing solicitors.
Bill speaks fluent Spanish.
He is a member of the Criminal Law Bar Association
