Mikhil specialises in all areas of asylum, immigration, and human rights law. He offers advice and representation, with the range of cases including asylum, deportation, entry clearance, nationality and EEA. He has successfully represented many clients facing conducive deportation. He has represented at the AIT the Administrative Court in judicial review, and the Court of Appeal. He is currently pursuing a number of applications to the European Court of Human Rights.
Mikhil's practice also involves consideration of European Law, in particular the Freedom of Movement provisions, where he has been successful in advancing a broader interpretation of those provisions.
He has an extensive background in environmental law with specific focus on waste and contaminated land. He has defended in environmental and health and safety prosecutions including statutory nuisance, he has advised on regulatory PPC and planning issues, contaminated land and nuisance.
He has experience of preparation for and representing at Inquests including seeking funding in Article 2 medical cases.
Mikhil takes instructions in all forms of prison law including representation at adjudications, Parole Board and recall hearings.
Mikhil accepts pro bono work, especially in asylum where the changes in legal aid have created significant problems of access to the courts.
Background:
Before being called to the Bar, Mikhil spent 15 years providing advice, guidance and consultancy on technical environmental and health and safety matters.
