Central Chambers has from its inception developed a dedicated team practicing asylum, immigration and nationality law. Over the years this expertise has been augmented and strengthened so that now its members have represented at all levels where immigration law is practiced, the AIT, the Administered Court, including the new Administrative Court sitting in Manchester, the Court of Appeal, and the House of Lords.
The areas of expertise of members include asylum and human rights, deportation and removal, including the new automatic deportation provisions; fresh claims, detention and bail, including judicial review challenges, immigration related criminal matters, benefits and welfare support, visit visas, students, work permit under the points based system and business applications; family reunion, dependant relatives and applications to enter and remain; matters in relation to EEA nationals including free movement; applications in exceptional or discretionary circumstances.
Chambers conducts regular training sessions that are CPD accredited, the most recent being in relation to the automatic deportation provisions, article 8 and the points based system for migrant workers.
The members of Chambers who accept instructions in this area are:
Penelope Maudsley (Called 1998)
Door Tenant
Dr Tony Thorndike (Called 1994)
Miss Henshaw's 6 month sabbatical is coming to an end. She has many stories to tell about the legal systems around the world.
Central Chambers now offers Direct Access to members of the public.
I am pleased to announce that Miss Faryl has joined Chambers as a tenant. She was called in 2003 and her areas of practice are Immigration, Employment, Personal Injury and Family.
Dr Tony Thorndike has rejoined Chambers as a full tenant.
