Emily Lomax is best categorised as being dedicated, as much as in her work as a criminal defender as in the world of local party politics.
She came to Central Chambers following pupillage in London and quickly made her mark in the Crown Court and the magistrates' court. Her caseload ranges from violence and assault, including sexual offences, dishonesty, driving offences and public order. She is noted for her dynamic personality, fearless advocacy, quick thinking and upholding of civil liberties.
A particular interest is domestic violence, following a contract working in that area for the Lancashire Constabulary.
Emily also has an interest as well as experience in aspects of planning and environmental law, particularly enforcement, and she has experience of public enquiry work.
She is a member of the Society of Labour Lawyers and of the Haldane Society of Socialist lawyers.
She is also a member of Liberty and Amnesty International.
